Conventional Sulphur Dyeing vs SULTAN BLACK ECO ✦

The chemical challenge of conventional sulphur dyeing and how our patented drop-in ecological system resolves it.

Conventional System Issues

What happens to the sulphide?

Oxidation in continuous range
2 Na₂S + 2 O₂ + H₂O → Na₂S₂O₃ + 2 NaOH

Wastewater leaves the dyehouse at pH 11–14 and must be acidified before biological treatment.

Acidification step
Na₂S₂O₃ + 2 HCl → S + 2 NaCl + SO₂ + H₂O

Elemental sulphur precipitates and SO₂ gas must be scrubbed before discharge.

Incomplete Oxidation: H₂S Release
Na₂S + 2 HCl → H₂S (gaz) + 2 NaCl
  • Toxic, malodorous hydrogen sulphide gas emissions
  • Severe odour complaints from the wastewater plant
  • High regulatory scrutiny from environmental authorities
Ecological Solution

SULTAN BLACK ECO + ECONSIDANT

SULTAN BLACK ECO: Patented, non-sulphide Sulphur Black dye.
ECONSIDANT: Sulphide-free reducing agent.

Wastewater Advantages
  • Can be acidified without risk of toxic H₂S emission
  • After filtration: completely colourless and harmless
  • Easily treated and recyclable for process reuse
  • Dye lost during washing is recovered for reuse
Drop-in System Benefits
  • No change to existing production method
  • No new machinery investment required
  • No additional parameters to monitor
  • Usage levels similar to conventional dyes (same g/L)
  • No more odour from the wastewater plant
  • No sulphur or SO₂ handling cycle
  • Confidence with environmental authorities

Sizing, Pretreatment & Wetting ✦

High abrasion resistance, rapid caustic penetration and micro-air bubble elimination.

SIZING
Warp protection
DEVOSIZE CO
Water-soluble acrylic co-polymer size

Forms a strong, elastic film on warp yarns for high abrasion resistance on the loom. Works with starch/CMC, washes off in hot water so enzymatic desizing may not be needed. APEO free.

SECHO HNA
OUR POLYMERS
Sequestering & dispersing agent

Polymeric carboxylic acid with polyphosphate. Binds hardness and heavy-metal ions, prevents precipitation and lifts fibre impurities in bleaching, dyeing and wash baths.

PRETREATMENT
Caustic wetting
WETTO MRZ 428
Wetting agent for mercerisation

Fast wetting of greige fabric at 22–32 °Bé caustic. Low-foam, no creaming in the bath, dosable by automatic systems. Typical use: 1–6 ml/L.

WETTO PBT
Rapid wetting agent for denim

Wetting, levelling and deaerating in one; stable up to 8–10 °Bé caustic. Recommended for low-Bé pretreatment and as the sulphur dyeing wetter. Formaldehyde and APEO free.

PENETRATION
Air & foam control
DEAIRO FDU
Deaerating & wetting agent, defoamer

Nonionic; removes air from fibre and bath for deep, even liquor penetration. Compatible with anionic, nonionic and cationic products. Ideal for high-speed ranges and tight constructions.

WETTO CAS
Rapid wetting agent, indigo

High caustic stability, deaerating and levelling. Recommended for homogeneous rope and slasher indigo dyeing without staining.

Dyeing, Oxidation & Finishing ✦

Reliable reduction, dichromate-free fixation and premium touch finishing.

SULPHUR DYEING
Reduction & dispersion
MKS ANTİOKSİDAN ECO M
Reducing agent for sulphur dyes

Mixture of reducing salts. Improves dye penetration, protects sensitive fibres and allows easy sulphur removal after dyeing.

DEVOLOPE JFR NB
OUR SULPHONATION
Dispersing & washing agent

Naphthalene sulphonate. 3–7 g/L in the indigo vat raises process reliability; strong soaping effect prevents back-staining, low foam.

OXIDATION
Fix & protect
OXIDO BR1
Oxidation & dispersing agent

Gives fastness equivalent to acetic acid/dichromate oxidation, without dichromate. Prevents the tear-strength loss typical of sulphur black. 60–70 °C, pH 3.5–4.

ECONOTRA NAU / YSM
Organic acid pH buffers

Guarantee fabric pH within the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 range. Non-volatile, odourless, no fibre damage or stenter corrosion; prevents yellowing in storage.

FINISHING
Depth & handle
EFECTO DEEPER
Shade deepener, strength improver

Up to 40% shade deepening, which cuts dye consumption. Reduces reddish casts, adds softness, elasticity and tensile strength. APEO/NP free.

EFECTO GT
Rope opener & yarn finish

Cationic lubricant for rope dyeing: prevents yarn deformation at rope opening, reduces breaks downstream, antistatic, improves sewability.
